ACS3 Dev Blog | Building Reusable Lighting Rig

ACS3 Dev Blog | Building Reusable Lighting Rig

Auto Character System 3 is meant to be rigging platform, not a fixed solution. The goal is to eventually allow for developing all kinds of rigs, not only creatures. The newest entry in ACS3 Development Blog gives a little glimpse of that. The video accompanying blog post demonstrates building a very simple custom rig that can be used to light a scene. This is rather unorthodox example but I think it shows what ACS3 will be able to do without diving into complexities of typical rigging.

Note how easy it is to apply lighting setup variations via poses when your lighting is an ACS3 rig.

Watch a process of building simple custom ACS3 rig - basic lighting setup with 2 spot lights. Each light is a separate module, modules can be combined to form more complex lighting setups. The advantage of building such setup as ACS3 rig is that poses library can be used to quickly store and reuse lighting variations.

Auto Character System 3 is a modular auto rigger for MODO currently in development. More information at www.autocharactersystem.com
