How to Think When You Draw
I wanted to share with you a new addition to my library. Earlier this year I backed Lorenzo Etherington’s Kickstarter campaign for his How to Think When You Draw book. I follow the Etherington Brothers on Twitter and have been collecting their free tutorials they so graciously share.
If you’re not familiar with their work you can check out their site here: http://theetheringtonbrothers.blogspot.com/
Call me old school, but I prefer a physical book, so when they announced that they would be compiling these amazing tutorials into a hardback, I signed up without question.
I’ve purchased hundreds of books over the years, but several stand out as must have resources. How to Think When You Draw has quickly been added to this list of must have books. It sits next to books such as Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair and The Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams.
Every page is packed with great tips and beautiful illustrations. If like me, you appreciate the work in this book, be sure to check out Lorenzo’s sketch books as well. His Deluxe Collections volume 1-3 are stuffed full of amazing work.
Also, Be sure to take advantage of the Free tutorials, design sets and artwork released every day online by the Etherington Brothers. If you’re a comics fan, also check out their comics such as Long Gone Don and Monkey Nuts. So much amazing art to enjoy!
